Michael joined Cairns Specialized Cabinets in 2011 in the role of Project Manager after working in the Building and Construction Industry for 20 years. In 2013 he purchased the business and relocated to Edmonton. With dual trades in Painting & Decorating and Cabinet Making, Michael draws on his extensive knowledge to offer clients unique design solutions.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Fishing, hunting, motorcycles, classic cars
Helen has a background in education, teaching in various primary schools in the Cairns region over a 20-year period. Soon after purchasing Cairns Specialized Cabinets, Helen resigned from teaching to take on the administrative role. With an interest in interiors Helen loves seeing how each client’s ideas translate into bespoke designs tailored specifically to their likes and their lifestyle.

Being a close-knit team with similar values who genuinely care about each other.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Catching up with friends and family, eating out, watching movies.
Damien began working at Cairns Specialized Cabinets in 2024 and is a valued member of the team. With over 30 years’ experience assembling and installing a range of complex joinery projects, he brings extensive skills and knowledge to the team. His patience and level-headed approach makes him a great mentor to apprentices as they learn skills of the trade and develop confidence in their ability.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Camping, mountain biking & water skiing.
Locky joined the team at Cairns Specialized Cabinets as a school-based apprentice in 2012. With over 10 years' experience in the industry, he is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the manufacturing process. He is a highly skilled member of the team who enjoys building and installing bespoke joinery in new, high-end homes.
What do you like about working at Cairns Specialized Cabinets?
Having a good crew that makes coming to work each day easy and enjoyable.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Camping, fishing and hunting.
Matt successfully completed his training at Cairns Specialized Cabinets after joining the team as a first-year apprentice, receiving his Cert III in 2023. Working with a highly skilled team of tradespeople, he has gained knowledge, experience and skills that make him an asset to the business. He enjoys the entire manufacturing process and takes pride in completing challenging builds.
What do you like about working at Cairns Specialized Cabinets?
Working on luxury homes.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Muay Thai and soccer.
Bailey began his time at Cairns Specialized Cabinets when he completed Work Experience at High School. He joined the team at as an apprentice after leaving school and received his Cert III in Cabinet Making & Timber Technology in 2025. He has gained knowledge and experience in all elements of the manufacturing process from cutting and assembling to installing the cabinetry.
What do you like about working at Cairns Specialized Cabinets?
The owners are very family oriented, everyone is very close.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Basketball, playing games and going to church on the weekends.
Maddox is working part-time at Cairns Specialized Cabinets training to be a cabinet maker while attending school part-time at St. Mary’s Catholic College. Through TAFE and on-the-job training, he is gaining industry trade knowledge, using machinery and tools for cutting, manufacturing and assisting with installations. Maddox is gaining valuable experience from his supervisors both in the workshop and onsite.

The great work environment, learning the skills that will add to career development.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Fishing, camping, gym and hanging with my mates.
